ASEAN successfully conducted its National Pilot Testing Workshop on Training of Trainers (TOT) Manual on Comprehensive School Safety in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on June 6-7, 2019. This workshop held to contribute to the achievement of the ASEAN Safe Schools Initiative goals in building national capacities in school safety as guided by its interlinking technical thrust #2 of the ASSI Programme Strategy 2017-2020: enhancement of capacity and resources on school safety of government officials (Education and Disaster Management authorities) and other school safety practitioners in the region.
A total of 35 stakeholders participated in the workshop, including the representatives from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) of Cambodia, National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM) of Cambodia, UNICEF, school directors, teachers, other NGO’s, and practitioners in Cambodia. The conference was hosted by the Government of Cambodia and organized by the ASSI consortium partners (Plan International, Save the Children, World Vision, Mercy Malaysia) with support from the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO). Inputs from the Cambodian ASSI partners in the workshop will be used to enhance the Training of Trainers (TOT) manual.
