The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), Thailand will host the second ASEAN Regional Conference on School Safety in bid to reduce the risks of disastrous consequences at schools.
DDPM Director General Chatchai Promlert said the department, in cooperation with partner agencies in ASEAN, is scheduled to hold the second ASEAN Regional Conference on School Safety on 14-15 February 2017 at Grand Center Point Hotel, Bangkok.
He said schools are considered risk areas from disasters which might possibly cause damage to buildings on campus, forcing classes to be canceled.
The meeting will be held as a brainstorming and exchange platform on disaster prevention and mitigation at schools according to the ASEAN Common Framework for Comprehensive School Safety (ACFCSS)
