Webinar: Inclusive policy and practices in education continuity for the most-at-risk girls and boys

Plan International Asia Pacific with the support of the partners of the Asia Pacific Coalition for School Safety (APCSS): Save the Children and Unicef conducted a webinar titled “inclusive policy and practices in education continuity amidst COVID-19 pandemic for the most-at-risk girls and boys”, on 14 September 2020 at 14.30 UTC+7. This webinar discussed issues around different practices and policy support to education continuity for girls and boys with disability and remote areas amidst the pandemic and promote inclusive approach when continuity education in this setting. This webinar also introduced the “Building back equal: girls back to school guide” that addresses safe, inclusive return to school with targeted inputs to ensure continuity of learning during school closures and meets the needs of most marginalised girls. Speakers were:

  • Mr. Andrew Baker, Director for South Asia, China, and Indonesia, Plan International Asia Pacific for the opening remarks
  • Ms. Leah Moss, Policy and Advocacy Officer, Plan International Global, sharing about the Building-back-equal: Girls back to school guide
  • Ms. Januka Ghimire, Education Programme Coordinator, Plan International Nepal, sharing on policy and practices in ensuring radio schooling and risk communication with disabled students in Nepal
  • Ms. Badrun Nahar, Disaster Risk Management Specialist, Plan International Bangladesh, sharing on youth group initiative in risk communication: targeting most marginalised women and girls as part of the COVID-19 and flood response in Bangladesh
  • Ms. Nadia Pulmano, Technical Advisor for DRR and Resilience, Save the Children Australia, sharing her reactions to the presentation
  • Mr. Frank van Cappelle, Regional Education Specialist, UNICEF for South Asia, sharing his reactions to the presentation
